Arts and the development of personal standards
Aesthetic education always includes the teaching of an accepting perception of diversity without judgement or comparison.
A judgement of "better and worse" always refers to personal standards and the individual potential.
Already in the 70ies the philosopher Gadamer illustrated this perfectly: "We can find a intelligence of the senses, an openness, which preserves against instinct - bound prejudice, emotional distortion and indifferent overstimulation by media and advertisements. Culture of the senses essentially means the development of the faculty of judgement."
